Aaron Johnson is an intern who started his internship in August 2021.

"I’m Aaron and my summer internship is focused on designing compensation coils to remove background magnetic fields.

Over the past month, I have been able to gain hands on experience working on current research projects and even saw a magneto optical trap (MOT) in action. I also learnt about grating MOTs and how they can be created. Weekly meetings have allowed me to develop presentation skills alongside research skills.

This internship has been especially useful as it has given me a deeper understanding of experimental quantum and atomic Physics that I plan to build upon in my Master’s project next year".
